Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I book an appointment?

A: Please contact me via email or telephone.  If I am not available please leave me a message.  I aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours.

Q: What will happen at my first appointment?

A: Your first appointment will last 60 minutes.  During this session we will talk about your difficulties and how they developed and your goals for therapy.  We will discuss options together and think about a plan for moving forward.

Q: What are the fees and how do I pay?

A: My standard fee is £80 per 60 minute session for individual therapy.

The fee for couples therapy is £85.

If you feel unable to leave the house due to anxiety/phobias or disability, I also offer therapy in the home.  Please call or email to discuss.

I operate a reduced fee system for student counsellors and psychotherapists and a small number of concessional places for clients with limited income. Please contact me for further information.

My fee for Clinical Supervision is £65 per 60 minute session.

All fees for self funding clients are paid by bank transfer 24 hours in advance of an appointment or if preferred  with cash/card at the outset of any face to face appointment.

Q: How many sessions will I need?

A: This will depend on the nature of your difficulties and your goals for therapy.  We will make an initial plan and review progress on an ongoing basis.  The need for further therapy will be very much led by you.

Q: Will what I say be confidential?

A: What you discuss in sessions is kept private and confidential.  In line with my professional duty of care, this confidentiality will only be broken if there are concerns about your safety or the safety of another person.  In these circumstances, the necessary process would be discussed with you first where possible.  In order to maintain best clinical practice, I undertake regular supervision with another qualified psychotherapist.  During these supervision sessions, any identifiable personal information is anonymised.  I also keep a basic computerised record containing essential information about all my clients, such as their name, address, date of birth, contact details and GP details.  This information is held securely in line with the Data Protection Act and remains solely for my use.
